To further enrich their studies surrounding the topics of war, injustice and racism – students in Div. 1 were involved in an all-day workshop at The Museum of Vancouver. They reviewed facts about the “Anti Asian Riot” which took place in Vancouver at the turn of the century and through drawing and cutting paper, they created storyboards to visually represent the events of that historic day.
Working with Reel-to-Reel animators, students then used a document camera and Apple software to animate their scenes and recorded background sound effects.
Kindergarten students researched ocean animals (as we prepare for our school-wide production of The Little Mermaid). They used modelling clay and read books such as Commotion in the Ocean.
Also, the students read books by Barbara Reid, who uses modelling clay to tell her stories.
